The Currituck County High School Wind Ensemble is the most advanced concert ensemble in our band program, dedicated to the highest level of musicianship and artistic performance. Membership is typically comprised of students in grades 10–12, though exceptional 9th-grade musicians may be invited to join. Entrance into the Wind Ensemble requires the director’s recommendation, earned through a formal audition process that may include scales, prepared solos, sight-reading, and other performance assessments.

Offered only during the Spring semester, the Wind Ensemble performs advanced literature spanning a variety of styles, historical periods, and composers. The demands of the music require each student to demonstrate a high level of individual skill, musical maturity, and personal responsibility. Members are expected to maintain a strong commitment to both ensemble rehearsals and independent practice, as the success of the group depends on the strength of each individual performer.
